Donjoy Shoulder Pain Pump Linked to Shoulder Cartilage Destruction:
Recent studies have shown that the use of shoulder pain pumps which deliver medication directly to the shoulder after surgery like Donjoy Pain Control Device and Accufuser Plus manufactured by Donjoy may cause damage to cartilage in the shoulder.
According to reports, these shoulder pain pumps have been linked to postarthroscopic glenohumeral chrondrolysis, known as PAGCL. PAGCL may result from instances of intra-articular pain pump catheters such as those manufactured by Donjoy alleged to deliver too much medication. It has been reported that these products can cause permanent deterioration of cartilage in the shoulder.
Symptoms of chrondrolysis may include:
- Shoulder pain whether in motion or at rest;
- Clicking, popping or grinding of the shoulder;
- Shoulder stiffness or weakness;
- Decreased range of motion;
